The last installment of the Bridgeron series is purely optional to read. However, if you’ve already fallen in love with the series just the way I have, I’d personally say it’s a must!
This book contains the second epilogues of all the previous Bridgerton books so we get a glimpse of each Bridgerton pair’s married lives. There’s so much happiness to go around that you’ll regret not finishing your Bridgerton read with this book. But if you absolutely insist on not reading further, here’s what you’ll miss:
- Viscount Anthony and Viscountess Kate Bridgerton: the competitive spirit around the annual Bridgerton Pall Mall competition continues. Anthony and Kate scheme against each other as they try to secure the mallet before the competition.
- Sir Benedict and Lady Sophie Bridgerton: Sophie would like her stepsister, the good one, to find a match and she enlists Benedict’s help. It’s disappointing that this one didn’t follow Benedict and Sophie a lot but there was a pretty sweet reward for Benedict for helping his wife in this endeavor.
- Sir Colin and Lady Penelope Bridgerton: Penelope finally delivers her secret to Eloise and we see a glimpse of Colin and Pen’s blissful marriage after Colin had to leave during their honeymoon to attend to Eloise’s troubles.
- Duchess Daphne and Duke Simon Hastings: We see a glimpse of their elder years with shocking news to all – Daphne is pregnant again!
- Lady Eloise and Sir Phillip Crane: I am once again frustrated that it didn’t circle more around Eloise and Phillip but this is fine. This is from the perspective of their female twin child entering the marriage cart.
- Countess Francesca and Earl Michael Stirling: Francesca and Michael visit Violet surrounded by their nieces and nephews. Francesca always wanted a child and Michael is more than happy to give it to her.
- Sir Gregory and Lucy Bridgerton: Probably the only chapter that almost gave me a heart attack. Lucy is once again pregnant after seven children but this time her delivery had complications and almost ended her life. I would’ve seriously cried if she did.
- Lady Hyacinth and Sir Gareth St. Clair: We finally get the satisfying ending of Hyacinth finding her diamonds in the St. Clair estate. Actually, it was found by her daughter first and she meant to keep it a secret until she finally know what it meant to her mother.
There they are, eight really well-written second epilogues.
As a bonus, we finally see Violet Bridgerton’s path to her beloved husband, Edmund. It is no surprise that all the Bridgerton siblings are as witty and as fun as their parents. Their love story seems to contain a piece of every Bridgerton’s love story. Violet was a competitive child who doesn’t shy away from getting even when Edmund pulled a prank on her. They met years later and charming like the rest of the Bridgerton boys, Edmund, pulled her into a conversation and eventually, a dance. Unfortunately, we are once again recounting Edmund’s last breaths in this book too. How that led to Violet’s resolve and commitment to her children. In the end, she looks at his grandchildren with content.
