Personal Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ / ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 out of 5 stars)
My heart is still pounding. What the f*** was that last book? That was so freaking intense. Only now did the series title makes sense but d**n that still escalated way too much. I mean they were high schoolers for god’s sake!
Okay, despite that initial shock, I’m still rating this a 4.5 because it was so good that I was legitimately nervous for the majority of it and yet I still found the calm and funny moments really endearing. Most importantly, it has a good ending. Well, categorially good, I’d say. If she went to prison I would’ve been so pissed because the police officers were so incompetent in this series.
But again, going back to the writing, it was hella good. It captured the modern young adult vibe and the way all three books connected to each other is insane! Really, if I wasn’t debating whether the protagonist actually killing someone was necessary, I would’ve given this a full 5 star. I’m still feeling pretty conflicted even if it was the main point of the title or if it was just meant to mirror the alibi faking in the first movie. Brava, Holly Jackson! Respect!
